Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that the BJP could make people understand the truth behind the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) as they accused the opposition of creating chaos in the country through lies. The Act, which was passed by Parliament in December last year, came into force yesterday. The Ministry of Home Affairs, however, does not yet enforce the rules.
Shah also dared Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and leftist leaders to show any provision in the act that would take away the citizenship of Muslims in the country.
“The opposition has no other issues, so they are spreading misinformation and lies on the CAA. This has caused chaos across the country, ”Shah said during the inauguration of various Gujarat Police projects in Gandhinagar.
The Union Minister urged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to visit every house and expose the lies and misinformation being spread against the CAA.
“Since Modiji has no choice in politics at present, the opposition is resorting to lies… We have the power to make people understand the truth. After our campaign ends, the people of the country will understand the importance of CAA, ”said Shah.
In December last year, there has been a snowfall of protests across India through the Citizenship Act by the central government.
More than 20 people were killed and hundreds were injured in the violence during protests against the Citizenship Act, which critics say is against the country’s Muslims and erodes India’s secular foundations.
Faced with such protests across the country, the BJP is removing all the hurdles to clear doubts about the provisions of the CAA and has launched a door-to-door campaign to reach out to three crore families about the Act. To explain the assumptions.
Rahul Baba, Mamta, Kejriwal, and Communists are spreading lies that the CAA will take away the citizenship of Muslims. I challenge them that I should show any such provision in the Act, ”said Amit Shah.
The Union Home Minister also attacked the opposition on Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, saying that after its repeal there was no violence in the area.
He said, ‘Some leaders of the opposition had claimed in Parliament that there would be bloodshed (if the special status of Kashmir is canceled). Such statements are on record. But people responded to such leaders. The BJP chief said that after the repeal of Article 370, not a single person has died so far.
Shah had earlier served as the Minister of State for Home Affairs in Gujarat when Modi was the Chief Minister of the state.
