Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to prove that the Citizenship Amendment Act would take away citizenship from Indian Muslims, as he advised them to read the Act in its entirety.
Describing those against the CAA as “anti-Dalit”, Shah said that the new Act does not contain any provision that takes away the citizenship of Muslims, and accused the Congress and Rahul Gandhi of trying to create confusion.
Shah said, “I challenge Rahul Gandhi … if you take away the citizenship of Indian Muslims, you are ready to debate fully.”
Addressing a public meeting here under the BJP’s nationwide Ab Jana Jagaran Abhiyan on the CAA, he accused the Congress of dividing the country on the basis of religion.
The BJP national president accused the Congress, Communist Party, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, JDS, BSP and SP of doing vote bank politics on the CAA.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and several BJP leaders attended the rally.
