Under the security arrangements of the Republic Day celebrations, services of the Delhi Metro will be partially banned on Sunday under instructions from the city police.
On several lines of the Delhi Metro, including Line 2 from HUDA City Center to Samaypur Badli and Line 6 to Kashmiri Gate to Raja Nahar Singh, will start at 6 a.m. on Sunday instead of 8 am.
Apart from this, services on the Phase-III corridor of Delhi Metro will also start two hours before the normal time.
These corridors are – L-1 Dilshad Garden to Shaheed Stall (new bus station); L-2 from Jahangirpuri to Samaypur Badli; L-3 and 4 from Noida City Center to Noida Electronic City; L-5 from Mundka to Brig Hoshiar Singh; L-6 from Badarpur Border to Raja Nahar Singh (Ballabhgarh); L-7 from Majlis Park to Mayur Vihar Pocket-1; L-7 East from Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake to Shiv Vihar; L-8 from Janak Puri West to Botanical Garden and L-9 from Dwarka to Najafgarh.
Entry and exit at the Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhavan metro stations will remain closed from 12 noon till the start of services. Stations on Lok Kalyan Marg and Patel Chowk will also be closed from 8:45 am to 12 noon.
All parking spots will be closed from 6 am on January 25 to 2 pm on January 26.
For the safety of passengers, security has been increased at all Delhi Metro stations a week before Republic Day.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who arrived in India on Friday on a four-day visit, will be the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade. He will be the third Brazilian President to attend the Republic Day parade as an honored guest.
He will also hold talks with the Indian leadership to increase trade and investment between the two countries.
