Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday proposed to buy Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Gautam Gambhir a personal protective device (PPE) of Rs 50 lakh and thanked the doctors and nurses working for fighting coronovirus disease.
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attacked the BJP for the second time in two days, with Arvind Kejriwal also trying to deflate.
After Manish Sisodia, Kejriwal’s deputy, the BJP deal on Saturday sought central funds to fight the coronovirus epidemic, saying it was the third most affected state in the country.
Sisodia, in a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, accused the Center of releasing more than Rs 17,000 crore from the disaster fund to the states, but Delhi was not given a single rupee.
After that, Gautam Gambhir, who represents East Delhi in the Lok Sabha, on Saturday accused the Arvind Kejriwal government of “shedding crocodile tears” and “playing the victim card”.
Gambhir also said that he had offered to donate Rs 50 lakh to the Delhi government to buy PPE kits and masks, but received no responses.

On Monday, the former cricketer once again targeted the Kejriwal-led government
CM @ArvindKejriwal and his Dy say that money is needed. Although his big egos did not allow him to take 50 L from my LAD fund, I pledge 50 L more so that the innocent do not suffer! “Gambhir posted.
“I will at least solve the urgent need for masks and PPE kits. Hopefully, they will make Delhi a priority,” he said.
At least 24 health care workers — doctors, nurses, hygiene employees in Delhi — have contracted COVID-19 and raised questions about the availability of adequate PPE such as full-body suits, goggles, masks, gloves, and shoe covers. Huh.
Resident doctors of the centrally-run Safdarjung Hospital have written to the NGO demanding PPE kits and masks. However, doctors said there was no immediate shortage, but any help in the long battle was appreciated.
