India’s daily Covid-19 tally rises to 38,353; Active cases lowest in 140 days

India on Wednesday reported 38,353 fresh Covid -19 cases, registering an increase of 28,204 infections in 24 hours on Tuesday, showed data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am. The daily death toll also increased as 497 people succumbed to the disease.

With the new cases, India’s cumulative tally has reached 32,036,511. The number of active cases came down to 386,351, the lowest in 140 days.

Of those infected since the start of the pandemic, 31,220,981 patients have already been cured of Covid-19 and 855,543 have been cured in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate has improved to 97.45 percent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 485,056,507 samples were tested till August 10, out of which 1,777,962 samples were tested yesterday.

On Tuesday, the central government said that 37 districts across the country are showing an increasing trend in the average daily new cases of Covid-19 in the last two weeks, even as the nationwide figure is falling.

The reproduction number or R number which indicates the speed at which Covid-19 is spreading is more than 1 in five states, health ministry officials also mentioned in the briefing, adding that it is a “cause of concern”. Is.” These five states are Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

An R-value of 1 and less is considered safe because it means 100 people are either infecting the same number of people or fewer. This is an indication that the number of new infections does not exceed the number of existing infections.

Meanwhile, on the vaccination front, around 520 million doses have been administered to the beneficiaries till Tuesday. According to the provisional report at 7 pm published by the government, more than 3.7 million (37,76,765) doses were administered during the day.
