The Dabangg star has never shied from challenging projects, proving her fluidity after consecutive successes in her career of nine years.

As reported by Indian Express, Sonakshi shared, “I want to be that actress whom a filmmaker can think of putting in any kind of film. That’s what I have been doing, that’s what keeps me engaged with my work and makes me love it more.”

She also thinks it is a “great time” to be an actress in Bollywood considering the variety of scripts coming their way but the misogynistic mindset needs to change: “I just want this whole labelling of calling a film led by a female artist ‘woman-centric’ to go away because when an Akshay (Kumar) or a Salman (Khan) does a film, no one calls it a male-centric film. A film is a film. Period. We should stop categorising them. We should treat them as equals.”

While addressing disparity in the industry, Sinha mentioned actors who reject movies with prominent female characters. The star confessed the realisation only came to her when her Mission Mangal co-star, Taapsee Pannu pointed it out in front of media.

Sinha added, “I think it would be really nice to have men supporting women for a change. I would also like to see that in Hindi films.”

The actor is presently busy promoting her upcoming dramedy Khandaani Shafakhana releasing on 2 August.
