Rs 1 crore for COVID-19 warriors if they die ‘: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced a sum of Rs 1 crore for families of those health workers who die while handling patients of the coronavirus disease. He said it will be a mark of ‘respect to their service’.

According to news agency ANI, Arvind Kejriwal said, “If someone loses his life while serving Kovid-19 patients, whether sanitation workers, doctors or nurses, his family will be provided Rs 1 crore as his service.”

Kejriwal said, “Whether they are from the private or government sector, it doesn’t matter.”

Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement came days after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave a special insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh to doctors, nurses, paramedics, technicians, and other health care professionals involved in the care of Kovid-19 patients.

Uttarakhand has also announced life insurance for thousands of government employees in the state, who are in the front line in the fight against the Kovid-19 epidemic in the state.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that for his role in the fight against the deadly virus, 68,457 employees including health, hygiene, police, and media personnel.

120 Kovid-19 patients have been reported in the national capital and to date two people have died due to the disease.
