Kanhaiya Kumar, former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU), said on Thursday that activists opposing the barbaric attack on students and teachers of his alma mater, JNU, are not breaking the country, but will break the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

Kumar, an alumnus of the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University, where a violent mob attacked students and teachers Sunday evening and severely injured many of them, a mob outside the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) in the national capital Were addressing

A delegation of seven teachers, all members of JNUTA and four JNUSU officials went to meet senior officials of MHRD on Thursday in connection with the violence in JNU.

“They call us members of the tukde tukde gang. I am standing here on the street, without covering my face, and admitting that yes I am from a gang. But we are not breaking the country. We will break the BJP, ”Kanhaiya said. The former student leader also said that before 2014 there was no “tukde tukde” government. The “tukde tukde” gang is a term the BJP has referred to the alleged sympathies of separatists.

Taking a sarcasm at the ruling BJP government at the Center, Kumar said, “We have talked about what happened in JNU, but we also need to understand why a university is being repeatedly maligned. Why people standing with him are also called anti-national. Deepika Padukone came to JNU. He did not say anything or name the Prime Minister or Home Minister. She simply met the injured students and left. Immediately, BJP supporters launched a campaign to boycott his film. If he did not name any party or ideology, why would you not watch his film? ”

“It means that they accept government supporters that they were behind the violence in JNU. VC said that great celebrities should meet students who are not able to study. One needs to be reminded that this is his job. He will have to talk to students and teachers. Deepika is not the vice-chancellor of JNU, ”he said.

According to the university administration, two or more student organizations fought on 5 January. “Then why did the violent mob attack the teachers?”
