The day after a violent mob attacked students and teachers at the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU); JNUSU President Aish Ghosh, who was injured in Sunday’s violence on campus, alleged that it was an organized attack.

“It was an organized attack. They were driving people out and attacking them. There is a clear nexus between JNU security and Vandal. He did not intervene to stop the violence.

“I was killed by an iron rod. We were about to lapse. The attackers had iron rods and hammers. Violent mob ransacked several hostels on the JNU campus. Ghosh said the students had alerted the SHO as well as the ACP of the area, yet the police did not intervene.

Unprecedented violence erupted on Sunday at the JNU campus, in which masked people went on the rampage with iron rods and sticks. The attack injured several students, who were later transferred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He was discharged after medical help on Monday morning. The unruly mob also damaged property on the premises.

On the request of the JNU administration, Delhi Police entered the university campus on Sunday evening and carried out a flag march.

Students belonging to Left parties and RSS-backed ABVP have blamed each other for the violence that erupted on campus. “For the last 4-5 days, some RSS-linked professors were promoting violence to break our movement. Is it wrong for us to seek security from JNU and Delhi Police, ”the JNUSU president questioned.
