Sunday night’s siege outside the Delhi Police headquarters against alleged atrocities in Jamia University students and Citizenship Amendment Act with protesting groups including students of Jawaharlal Nehru University in the early hours of Monday, refusing to evacuate the busy traffic intersection done.

Several opposition political leaders also visited the latest protest in the capital to express solidarity with the protesting students.

Violent protests erupted in New Delhi’s New Friends Colony area on Sunday afternoon when crowds of over 2000 protesters, including students of Jamia Millia Islamia University, were stopped from marching towards the busy ring road.
Some protesters threw crude bombs and burned several vehicles, including bus lathicharge ‘by police and three public transport buses firing tear gas.
A violent confrontation also took place near the Jamia Millia Islamia University and the nearby metro station, where both sides pelted stones at each other, following which, police entered the campus and removed about 150 students, some of whom were in the library .
University administration said that police entered the campus without permission. Screams of students firing tear gas shells with Delhi Police can be heard emanating from the campus.
The Jamia University administration said the students did not participate in the violence and instead blamed some anti-social elements.
Delhi Police said that ahead constable Maqsool Ahmed suffered serious head injuries and was admitted to the ICU and several other senior officers such as the Deputy Commissioner of South-East District Police, Additional DCP South, two Assistant Police Commissioners, 5 Station House Officers and Was an inspector.
Several other police personnel were also injured in violence and stone-pelting by violent agitators.
An official at the South Delhi hospital said that 26 students of Jamia University were treated and discharged for minor injuries, while two police personnel are still being treated with stone-pelting.
Delhi Metro has suspended services at 15 metro stations – Delhi Gate, Pragati Maidan, GTB, Shivaji Stadium, Patel Chowk, Vishwa Vidyalaya, Vasant Vihar, Munirka, RK Puram, Sukhdev Vihar, Jamia Milia Islamia, Okhla Vihar, Jasola Vihar And Shaheen Bagh – as a precaution.
National Capital Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that all schools in Okhla, Jamia, New Friends Colony and Madanpur Khadar area of the national capital will remain closed on Monday.
